      Most important - My ICE Plan does not use or need the Windows registry to operate!

Have you ever installed software on one computer but needed later to run a backup on some other computer? That's impossible without having to reinstall the software. You will get nothing but the famous "missing dll / files" errors. That's because most (99.9%) of all software will register its files and other information to the Windows registry. Therefore every time the software is started, Windows looks in the registry for entries to operate the software properly. If Windows can not find files the software says it needs to operate than the software is not be useable and will not run.

Imagine needing your precious information in time of a disaster and can't easily get at it because you have to use a strange computer (maybe even one in a hotel or library). You will are not be allowed to install software on someone else's computer. Even if you were able to, you would first have to install the software then restore all of the data your entered. This could take hours or days if at all. These type of problems is the last thing you need after a disaster such as an earthquake, fire, tornado. You just want to access your data without any hassles from the USB thumb drive or external hard drive that you retrieved from a safe place, or took when you evacuated your home.

Just copy the software to any folder of your choice and use. The idea is to be able to use this software "in case of an emergency " anywhere and anytime without the hassle of re-installing it on another computer. 

My ICE Plan also distributes a free media player (Media Player Classic) that does not need windows media player nor needs to write to the registry to use it. This means you can view your inventory movies anywhere and on any computer. Still Images can be viewed within the software anytime.

Thus it eliminates the possibility of deleting for example the "master bedroom" but still showing items in that room. It also means that correcting spelling errors in names is easier. You correct the name in the Pick List and every record in the Item Inventory will be corrected.
