Installing
My ICE Plan is simple. Just run the setup program and the install will take place.
Please take note of what folder you have installed My ICE Plan
into . Typically
C:\Program Files\My ICE Plan\My
ICE Plan 2008 Std\ (or Ent or Pro depending on your version)
You will need to know this in order to activate the
software by copying your registration key file to that folder and renaming that
file to reg.tps.
The activation is only done
once.
It does not matter how many
times you change your hardware or how many times you move it from one
computer to the next.
The install
process only copies the ICE software onto your hard drive. It
does not use or need the Windows registry to
operate
and
therefore the My ICE Plan software can be moved from one drive to the another or from
one computer to another without the need to re-install the software. To do this just
copy the ICE folder to another drive or computer and execute the file called
(depending on what version you own) either My ICE Planstd.exe or My ICE Planpro.exe or My ICE Planent.exe in the
My ICE Plan main folder.
Activation
is done by copying your registration key file
that was emailed to you into the folder where I.C.E was installed, then
renaming that file to reg.tps.
** IMPORTANT **
Backup your
registration key before copying it to the ICE install folder and before renaming
it to Reg.tps. When you start My ICE Plan software for the first time it will
prompt you to the setup screen
where you
will enter your home address (location) and your home owners insurance. Once
this has been completed the software becomes activated and the next time you
start ICE the software will brand your name
onto
the title bar of the software and in the window called Help / About My ICE Plan
At that time the
reg.tps file will be
deleted . That is the
reason for creating a backup prior to copying the registration file
and prior to renaming it to reg.tps. Not creating a backup will
delete your only copy of the registration file.
Why is can't I change my name
in the "Your Name" field of the setup screen?
Because My ICE Plan was
created to be an "in case of emergency" program where it can be used
any where at any time without re-installing or writing to the Windows registry,
software piracy would then be too convenient for those who
distribute un-licensed software. Therefore making your name as part of the registration process makes the software less
likely that someone will have any use for software that does not have their name attached to
it such as in all of the reports. Therefore the name can not
be changed. You can append a spouse or other person's name. Those names
will be combined and placed on all reports, title bars and help about
screens.
