With the exception of the Locations list and the
Insurance Companies list, Pick List are pre-populated lists
that make creating a home
inventory a bit easier and to insure that the minimum required data fields are
entered for insurance purposes.
These lists can be maintained by you. You can add, remove or
change records from the list if desired. Keep in mind though that because these
lists are related to the Items Inventory list, you will not be able to delete
some of the records from one of the "pick lists" if the record
you want to delete is being used by one of your items that you have added
into your inventory.
Example: You want to delete the category called "Bedding" - if one of
your items listed in your inventory is under this category then you will not be
able to delete the category "Bedding" until you change the
category of the item inventory record using the "Bedding"
category. The same holds true for the other lists. You can however change the
name of that category from "Bedding" to say for example "Beds
and Blankets". This will then change every record that was listed as
"Bedding" to "Beds and Blankets".
Note: You could however
delete an item inventory record with no problem because it is a record not
related to the pick lists in reverse manner since there will be items in your
inventory that you will eventually delete because you no longer own the item.
The lists that are in the Pick
List menu are:
Categories: pre-populated
with most common categories that items can be classified
into
Contact
Types
: a pre-populated list of different types of contact names associated to a
contact. Two types can not be changed or deleted; they are
OEContact - Imported and OLContact -
Imported
. These two types are used when importing
contacts into the Contact database. They are used when importing contacts form
Outlook or Outlook Express.
Generic Rooms : pre-populated list of most common rooms in a home. You
do not have to use these room names. They are used as a convenience so you can
just select rooms from a list. Any room assigned to a Location (a property
address) becomes unique to that location
. ICE
will internally name that room with the Location and the Location ID thus giving
you a unique room name. You can have unlimited rooms for any one location and
you can give them any name desire.
Item
Names: pre-populated with most common home
items.
Manufacturers:
pre-populated list of
common brand named companies and manufacturers of goods. Only company names are
in this list.
Phone Type : is a pre-populated
list of the types that can be assigned to a phone number. As with all
Pick List you can add edit or delete types if desired.
Retailers: pre-populated list of many common retails
stores that many home items are purchased from along with addresses for
web sites and email address when available. Physical addresses (mailing) may
not be entered. This is left up to you to complete the mailing address for the
store closet to you or where you shop.
Locations: is a list that you
populate - they are the properties that you have items stored in and will be
maintaining a inventory for. The Standard version allows up to three (3)
properties, the Professional version allows up to ten (10)
properties and the Enterprise version allows unlimited
properties
to be used.
Insurance Companies
: is a list that you populate - it is a list of your insurance carriers
and their policy numbers. You can have unlimited policies
(insurances)
