My
I.C.E. Plan does not start properly or can not save data when it has been
started
This
problem is due to "Write
Access"
Typically
you should not have a problem with this but in the event that you installed or
copied the software to a folder that has limited access (such as the Program
Files folder in Windows) then others may not be able to use the software
due to no "Write" access. Especially
true in Windows Vista
or if you shared the folder without the proper permissions given to users. Even
if you are logged in as an Administrator, Windows Vista will downgrade you while
operating software to a Standard User. A standard user does not have write
access in the Program Files folder as an example. This is the reason why My
I.C.E. Plan is installed elsewhere. By default, the C: drive. As a side note,
you can copy the software to any folder. As being the Creator/Owner of the
folder you will not have a problem but others may have problems because they do
not have Full Access as the Creator/Owner.
The "User
Accounts" who will be using My I.C.E. Plan, must have "Full Control" or at
the very least "Modify" permissions to the folder where you have installed (or
copied) the program.
- The
fix is easy though.
Right click over the My I.C.E. Plan folder and select Properties. Then select
the Security tab. Highlight the username and then check the box "Full
Control". Press OK.
- The
recommended
solution is to hit the Add button and type in either "Everyone" or
"Authenticated Users" , then give that group Full Control.
- In
the case of copying a backup from a CD
make sure that the "Read" attribute is taken off of the My I.C.E. Plan folders
and its sub-folders after you have copied it from the CD disk.
- If you
shared the folder and are using My I.C.E. Plan on a network
then make sure the Everyone group has Full Control. See Network / Sharing in this
doc.
Print
Pre-View
(Windows Vista - rare but possible)
In
the rare event
My I.C.E. Plan hangs when you try to print or use print preview the solution
here is to check to make sure your printer has the correct drivers for Windows
Vista. This issue is a printer driver issue and not related to My I.C.E. Plan
software. One printer we know that this affects is the EPSON Stylus CX7400
Series.
One
quick solution / test would be to print to a pdf file using BullZip or
another pdf writer. From the Printers windows right click over the PDF printer
and make it the default printer. If My I.C.E. Plan works properly using the pdf
printer then the issue is with your printer driver for your printer as stated
above.
