Adding records
throughout My ICE Plan is the same and is very simple. Just fill in the blanks and press
save. There are some fields that are required. Those fields are colored in
yellow on the form. You will not be able to save a record until those
required fields are complete.
Requiring certain fields to be completed guards against a blank record from being added and makes sure you have
at least entered the necessary data to provide to insurance
companies.
- Most fields are set to Capitalize
the first letter of a word for you.
- Phone
number fields are formatted as xxx-xxx-xxxx
- NOTE: Due to allowing
importing contacts from other programs the Contacts phone numbers are free
form. Meaning they look the way you type them in. They will not be
automatically formatted for you.
Entering dates as 020206
will be formatted as 02/02/2006.
Model numbers, serial numbers and
Zip codes sometimes contain letters. If they do the letters will be
automatically capitalized for you. Thus entering a number like ap8966-f-88
will be formatted as AP8966-F-88

In order to protect
the your inventory from accidental deletions a relation
between certain files must exist. This is the reason for having to chose the
three critical pieces of data from the Pick List. An item record once entered
can be deleted. However, records for the Categories, Item Names and Location
files can not be deleted unless the Item record using the category,
location or item name is deleted first. Example: (Lets assume you have 10
records using the location of "Master Bedroom" - and while you are in the
Location list and have the Master Bedroom record highlighted, you accidentally
hit the delete button and hit the confirm the deletion of the Master Bedroom
location. My ICE Plan will not delete that Master Bedroom record from the Location
list because it sees that you have items stored (kept) in the Master Bedroom.
My ICE Plan will instead tell you that due to a "referential integrity" it can not
delete the record. Thus eliminating the possibility of deleting the Mater
Bedroom record and leaving your 10 item records with no location as to
where those items are stored.
